Happy Sunday evening. I’m getting this in just as I close out my weekend. Let’s go.

This week required: balance, as I stepped back into my full-time marketing role. It was quieter than expected, teams were heads down and catching up.

What moved the needle:
– Letting go of trying to change a situation that needed acceptance a long time ago
– Giving myself one non-negotiable task each day and doing everything I could to complete it
– Continuing to clean out every nook and cranny of our house, it feels lighter and calmer
– Pausing our house painting plans to reassess timing, logistics, and budget
– Enjoying my daughter’s personality as more of what makes her uniquely her comes through

The throughline:
Sometimes the most freeing thing you can do is accept something for what it is and release it.

Looking ahead:
A busy planning week, with an emphasis on staying ahead instead of catching up.

Your turn:
What’s one thing you could stop trying to fix this week?

This weekly performance review leans more on the personal life side — but it’s still a good one.

1. Start getting ready every morning
2. Stop: planning to paint our house
3. Continue: working on my reading goal

I’d like to add that my goal is not to read 200 books, I have 200 unread books between my Kindle, Audible, and bookshelf.

For a long time, I believed growth only came from doing well inside the roles I was given. And my career has offered me meaningful opportunities, learning, and support along the way.

At the same time, building The Cabro has given me something different: space to think out loud, to test ideas, and to fully own my voice. Not instead of my career—but alongside it.

These quotes come from a piece about building your own table when you need room to explore, stretch, and lead in new ways. Sometimes that table complements your job.

Sometimes it clarifies who you are within it.

Growth doesn’t have to be a zero-sum game.

This isn’t anything new, but investing in good eyebrow care has made a real difference in my morning routine. Finding someone who spends time shaping is just as important as the maintenance itself. I didn’t realize the importance of a good shape until I ask for one at my appointment. A polished look that works just as well casual as it does professional.

This week required: stamina—parenting without our normal routines through long, cold, rainy holiday days.

What moved the needle:
– Doing a Kelly Nolan Clean Slate and realigning my Asana board to Q1 due dates
– Watching Suits on a second screen reminded me that being nice isn’t a strategy—having a backbone is
– Letting screens do more of the heavy lifting than I wanted, and accepting that it was a tool, not a failure
– Staying committed to my low-buy mindset even after the year ended—my consumer habits have fundamentally shifted
– Clearing physical clutter, which immediately lightened my mental load

The throughline:
An ounce of preparation beats a pound of waiting until it’s time.

Looking ahead:
Carrying forward a clean house and better energy after purging a lot of dead weight.

Your turn:
How are you preparing for tomorrow?

If you’re a dual career family, how do you make it work? I’m often asked how I manage a full-time job, two young children, and a growing social media presence. What works for my family may not work for yours—and that’s okay. I recognize I have certain privileges, including financial resources, a supportive partner, and access to services not everyone has. Much of what I’ve learned comes from this community, and my hope is that we keep sharing what works for each of us. So, here’s how we make it work.

I haven’t posted an introduction in a while. So, let’s do this.

Hi, I’m Catherine. I’m so glad you’re here.

I started The Cabro during maternity leave in 2020, as a new mom navigating work, identity, and ambition—trying not to lose myself in the process. I’m now a senior product marketing leader in tech, a mom of two, and someone who believes that motherhood can sharpen our leadership—not dull it.

Here, you’ll find a mix of what makes me me: reflections on career and parenting, the realities of a low-buy year, honest thoughts on ambition, and the systems working mothers are up against. I also share my favorite vintage finds from estate sales, classic pieces that help me feel camera-ready, and bits of what I love—like reading with a strong cup of coffee, planning our next trip, or tracking down a great meal (or cocktail).

My goal is to help working moms feel seen, supported, and strong in the choices they’re making. I believe we can build a life that honors both our families and our own ambition. And, I’m here to help show what that really looks like.

Thanks for following along. I’m so glad you’re here.
