私が捉える「うつろい」は、直線的な消滅ではなく、循環する変化です。季節や植物の生命のように、変化は終わりへ向かうものではなく、繰り返し巡り続けるものとして存在しています。同じ作品を前にしても、そこに感じる時間の流れや景色は、鑑賞者それぞれによって異なるでしょう。
制作では、金属を叩き、削り、火で熱することで、硬質な素材の中に潜む繊細な表情を引き出しています。彩色には金属そのものの色彩のみを用い、日本の伝統的な金属着色技法を取り入れています。素材に刻まれた痕跡や色彩を通して、金属という物質が内包する時間性を可視化し、その中に自然のうつろいを定着させています。
私の作品は、固定された風景ではなく、変化し続ける時間の断片です。鑑賞者それぞれの記憶や感覚の中で、新たな景色として立ち現れることを願っています。I create metal-based works centered on the theme of shifting landscapes. Here, “landscape” does not simply refer to a visual scene, but to phenomena and sensations that continuously change over time.
The “transience” I explore is not a linear disappearance, but a cyclical transformation. Like the changing seasons or the life cycle of plants, change is not something that moves toward an end, but something that endlessly recurs. Even when viewing the same work, each viewer may experience a different sense of time and landscape within it.
Through processes such as hammering, carving, and heating metal with fire, I seek to reveal the delicate expressions that exist within a hard material. I use only the inherent colors of metal itself, incorporating traditional Japanese metal patination techniques. Through the traces and colors inscribed into the material, I aim to visualize the temporality contained within metal and embed within it the transience found in nature.
My works are not fixed landscapes, but fragments of continuously changing time. I hope that, within each viewer’s own memories and perceptions, the works will emerge as new landscapes.
