More frog fun on a Friday. I couldn’t resist working into some of the details for Marina’s frog design. Once I rigged and animating the lil guy, I created some rain and caustic maps for the environment, as well as the rain splash (tutorial in my post before).

I’ve put some of these up on Gumroad because I couldn’t for the life of me easily find what I needed for these. So I made them myself and hope others might find me useful too.

Rigging, animation and texturing by moi

For the past 2 years or so I’ve been teaching at on their awesome Master in Motion Graphics course, but am now saying farewell to that chapter.

It’s been massively fulfilling to have been given the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and share a bit of what I know about bringing characters to life to other creatives out there.

This post is largely to thank a few people involved. Firstly who initially taught half of the 3D Motion module of the course with me (and who designed and modelled this here frog 🐸), followed by the brilliant who has now taken the reins (and is a much more capable teacher than me, let’s be real).

I also want to give a huge thanks to Tom Allen of the unmatched for putting together the course to begin with and trusting me to be part of it. I want to also shout out for recommending me in the first place and being an all-round positive force in the motion world.

Finally a huge cheers to the course coordinators who kept things (and me) on track behind the scenes, and to all the talented students who had to listen to me ramble about character rigging for hours. It was so amazing to see what everyone has been able to achieve in a short amount of time.

A little behind the scenes of the opening of my showreel.
After 10 years of living in the UK, I decided to make this opening inspired by the city of Ginza, Tokyo, where I used to work. The narrow buildings, independent shops, izakayas, bars, vending machines, and dense layering of signage—I sometimes miss them a lot.

Gallop into 2026🐎🐎
I decided to make this little New Year horse loop on the 2nd of January. 😅 I played around with the awesome Brushstroke Tools add-on in Blender and our good old friend, Grease Pencil. Hope this year will be a fun, great one for all of us!
Just got an early Christmas gift☃️ Shishimai Boy is featured in Three Dimensional, published by Viction:ary, a Hong Kong–based publisher. The book features awesome studios and artists from around the world, and they ship worldwide:)
★ New showreel — and I’m available for commissions + freelance gigs! ★
For the first time in four years, I’ve fully updated my showreel — and finally refreshed my website too🥰

This time, I decided to move away from adding mix of 2D/3D work and focus on what I love working on: the pieces I’ve directed and the character-driven, stylized 3D animation. It might be a bit of a risk and might narrow the kinds of projects I get…? Oh well, let’s see!
A huge thank you to all the clients, agencies, and studios I’ve worked with so far. I’m currently very available for new projects, so if you think I might be a good fit for something you’re working on, I’d love to hear from you 😊
My husband has been painting Warhammer minis for a while. I have always been interested in making physical work and have been planning this little project for years😇
This is our first collaboration! I designed and modelled ONI and this little guy was 3D printed. Rhys painted him and made him a cute base!! it's still our first prototype and some amends will be made. I'm also planning to create 2 more ONI models, so this is an early prototype of the series and possibly many more to come!
Let me know if you have any feedback! Love to know:)👹

Some of my previous works also made it to these large screens in NY. The naked eye effect worked well on this screen and my dragon is very happy🐉
Thank you again for inviting me to this cool exhibition🥰

This little charming Japanese tattoo inspired series Horimon has finally landed on today and many more to come. Check the link from my Bio!
Horimon 001 is 虎:TIGER and it's on #hicetnunc now! The tiger as a tattoo is a symbol of physical strength and wealth, and it's a very important motif because my name is based on an ancient tiger proverb and I have small tiger tattoo😉
