mentioned this idea of the time boxing on the calm app that I have thought a lot about since I heard it. He said it is just as important to schedule and box out your downtime, as it is to schedule your to do list.
This is one of the ways I like to try to fit in me time. What are ways you like to wind down? Happy Monday 🩵
How is everyone feeling about the recent Justin Timberlake diagnosis news?
Personally I have been hearing two sides. Lyme warriors and advocates are so happy to have all the major news outlets FINALLY covering the topic of Lyme Disease and call attention to this debilitating disease. An equal number of others impacted by Lyme are frustrated that it takes a very famous person getting it to finally have it covered, when hundreds of thousands of people struggle every year in silence.
This is exactly how countless patients feel with Lyme, and the feeling is universal…it brings us to our knees, and it does not discriminate. What he said in the full statement really struck a cord for me because so many people were accusing him of having low energy, and being critical of his performances. During this time he was silently battling this horrible disease, and at the same time wanting to do what he loves the most.
Justin’s statement confirms an experience that I have personally had, that I have seen in my professional life with clients, and that so many patients have felt when battling invisible illness. Invisible illnesses, are just that, invisible. Society has this expectation that you need to look sick to be sick, and so if one doesn’t see sick, they project an idea about it, or judge you because they can’t see it. It is lonely and incredibly isolating.
Lyme disease and other invisible illness takes everything from you in every area of your life.
If someone says they are struggling, BELIEVE them. 💚
This is for my Lyme Warriors and anyone who has felt they haven’t had a voice. I see you.
Thank you and, for giving me the opportunity to represent a very underrepresented community, and for helping me to raise awareness for this invisible debilitating disease. 💚
