1. Invest in yourself: get a mentor, read books, listen to podcasts etc. self learning and development is a huge reason behind any successful person
2. Keep family & God close: when you move out of your country, you are infatuated by new cultural norms, people and traditions. All that is great to experience & get exposed to. HOWEVER, you should never forget your roots, family and cultural norms/traditions. This makes you a stronger individual who can adapt to any surrounding, but one who never lets go of their own identity.
3. Your Association: surround yourself with people who are passionate, hungry, supportive & creative. They will never laugh at you when you are about to do something new. Wanna start a business? Make sure you are around supporters, not problem-counters.
4. External Validation: never look for external validation for happiness or to feel proud about your accomplishments. You are enough. Teach yourself to be proud of yourself.
6. Procrastination: dont fall prey to this evil habit. Procrastination will ruin so many good things coming your way and you wont even realize it until its too late. JUST DO IT ANYWAY. Perfection is a myth. Done is better than perfect.
7. People pleasing: dont please people to be in their circle or group or to be socially accepted. Change your group, meditate & become self confident. LEARN TO SAY NO! Set personal boundaries. You cant be everything to everyone!
8. Fuck the societal norms: get a good job at 22, married at 24, house at 26…BLAH BLAH BLAH. Fuck that! Pave your own way. I gave into the societal pressures and never started my own businesses until I was 26. I am a multimillionaire today.

First time we all came to Canada in 2008, my dad’s vision was to grow and expand our family business & real estate portfolio in 🇨🇦 Although my family & dad is still in India, dad continues to become even more business savvy & a sophisticated investor every passing hour. I remember his dream of having a commercial portfolio of buildings, houses and business plazas ++ LAND HACKING (YES, he actually wanted to do land hacking in 2008, buy land in a jungle, which you now call CALEDON, ON) That very land parcel, which he wanted to buy at $250K in 2008, just sold for $38M in 2021.
I am currently working on fulfilling my dad’s dream! Although he couldn’t come to Canada this year, but I’m sure all my family - my brothers, sisters and others - will one day be here with me, and enjoy the life I’ve created for them 👨👩👧👦👨👩👧👦
