Good morning guys!! And well, you’re now looking at... A PLUMBER! 🤩👋🏼 (nope, not me 🤣) This post marks a momentous occasion worth throwing my hands in the air for haha, because we have glorious flowing water again on the top floor of 43 courtesy of the wonderful handyman Josh! 😍💦 🙌🏻

If you missed our stories yesterday, you might not have seen, but Josh has totally plumbed our new bathroom now, it’s all working and I honestly couldn’t be prouder of the new skills he keeps learning and smashing out of the park! 🏌🏼Tackling every stage of this wild DIY ourselves is 💯 a challenge at times, but man it’s rewarding.

In the original plans I shared, the bath was directly behind the crittal divide- a quirky layout I adored and really struggled to let go of, as I had my mind so set on it- but in the end the room just wasn’t wide enough to make it a really functional space and I had to go with what I thought would work better when living in it -That’s the most important thing! A huge thanks to some of our fave accounts who helped advise- you were TOTAL life savers 🤞🏼😘

And Iet’s face it, it’s hardly a compromise- a cast iron bath under the arched windows of dreams! I kinda feel like it was meant to be... 😍

Good morning pals!!! SWIPE for the during and the before 👉🏻 Ooooohhh yes, from the moment we caught a glimpse of the beautiful Victorian structure of our dormers that lie beneath the plain boarded exterior, we just loved it! And we knew we needed to make a special feature of them on the rebuild. I’m so glad we did 😍🙌🏻☀️

As this photo shows, the devil really is in the detail so sorry for the lack of updates chums- we’re heads down this weekend on planning the next steps of the room so they’re as good as this one 😊👌🏼 The planning stage is vital!

In other news, I tell you what guys, I think we’ve officially divided the nation in the ‘to paint or not to paint’ ceiling debate 😆 We’ve never had so many heated responses and opinions! I’m still to get through them all, but so many messages ranging from - you simply CANNOT paint that beautiful wood, to it absolutely MUST be white! And what with the nearly 50/50 result... it was all in all a rather helpful poll indeed 🤷🏻♀️🤣

It’s taken us weeks of graft to get to this stage, along with countless hours of lost sleep and head scratching but by god we made it - and I think the end result is worth ALL the hard work 💪🏼🤩

The ceilings in here are over 16ft high, and I felt the expanse was just crying out for an extra dimension and texture. I love the dormers too and really wanted to accentuate those! 🤍 I know the question on many peoples lips will be are you painting it? Well that was always the plan, but we do kinda love it now. So walls will go white first and we shall see! 👌🏼

...Due to the huge hole in the floor for plumbing, plus the just excessive amount of dust, We are yet to starfish on the floor and admire the views 🌞 (trust me I’ve been tempted still 🙈😆) But, it’s on the list of must-dos ASAP! ✔️

We have been a bit absent of late, because well... quite frankly the ceiling was far more of a monster task than anticipated...🤪 wonky Victorian ceilings at crazy heights and lovely straight new wooden boards don’t make for an easy task! The devil is absolutely in the detail and we took so much time working out the finish around the windows and uprights so it was just perfect 👌🏼✨ but it’s been so worth it.

Happy Sunny Friday pals, and hello to our new project!!! 🌞 Wow, it’s been a glorious day hasn’t it? - I hope the sun has been the lift to our spirits we all needed!! 💙🤍 So, yes many of you guessed it- THIS is how we’ve been spending all our lunch times - planning our little secret project - panelling the 16ft vaulted ceiling 😍

We felt the space needed a little more texture than just plain plaster; we’ve gone for wide bead and butt- the large pronounced bead gives such a beautiful detail even at height! I know it may divide opinions but I think it’s gorgeous- and our plan is to paint it white - we’re maybe not brave enough to keep the wood 🙈😆 Don’t wana risk giving those Sauna vibes!! but I think I’ve shown in stories today even that can be so beautiful.

The walls are all plastered now and the panelling is full steam ahead - half is done already! 🚂 so I’ll show you a better snap in the morn and hopefully it’ll be finished this weekend ☺️

For those not so familiar 🙋🏻♀️ We built this arch DIY for our four poster bed to sit under one day soon and what a feature it’s gonna make! Can’t wait to starting adding detail to it once it’s dry 😊

This space is really starting to take shape and it feels amazing. As you’ll know, there’s been soooo much DIY work that’s gone into just getting back to to get to this stage of clean walls so it’s certainly a moment to celebrate! The sun even came out through the arches windows to say her congrats 🌞 so chuffed with that!

V day (or our lack thereof as we continue to DIY 😆) got me thinking... A renovation really IS a labour of love, don’t you think!? You invest so much (...all 🤪) your time and energy into it - for us it’ll be 5+ years of pretty much every single weekend DIY! I mean at this point our house is essentially a third wheel in the relationship 🤣👌🏼

But you know what, it’s already worth it. It’s ruddy wonderful when you can start to feel proud of what you’ve achieved and really LOVE the home you’re creating. We’ve reached that stage with the exterior 😄🙌🏻 And I think it shows!! Now for the interior fun to begin 🎉
