The mountain doesn’t clear because you booked the date. The blossoms don’t open on the morning you need them. The wind doesn’t arrive on a schedule. Each of these runs on a clock that has never once consulted a human being, and they almost never line up.
Mt. Fuji is hidden more often than it’s seen. The cherry blossoms hold full bloom for about a week, and the petals only fall like that when the wind decides to lift them. Any one of those things, on a given day, is unlikely. All of them at once is closer to luck.
We tell ourselves these moments happen for us. They don’t. They happen. Sometimes we’re simply standing in the right place, paying enough attention, when they do.
There’s a wedding that lives in that gap.
Before the lakeside vows, before the winery, there was a bridge. A first look. The two of them seeing each other, and right then, with no cue and nobody arranging it, the wind lifted the blossoms into a sakurafubuki and let them fall like pale pink snow. Fuji clear behind them. The tree, the wind, the mountain and the moment, all agreeing at once, for a few seconds, and never again exactly like that.
Nobody made that happen. You can’t. You can only choose the bridge, choose the day, and choose to be fully there in case the world decides to meet you halfway.
It did.

Last night we took a boat out to check whether a town could really be that literal.
Just past midnight, the berg we were photographing cracked like a cannon and started coming down into the sea. Jonas already had the wheel over. We sat at a safe distance and watched one iceberg become several.
Iluliaq is one iceberg. Ilulissat is the plural. The town's name, happening in front of us.
Dropped at the dock at 2am. Climbed a hill anyway, because the sun wouldn't stop. Bed by 4:30. Tracey's thumbs are still filing their complaint.

What stays is what moved you. The brain files a moment by how much it made you feel.
Which is why the calmest version of a day is rarely the one you keep. You remember the moment your throat tightened. The song that landed in the best way. The face across the room you couldn’t look away from. Feeling is the ink. Everything else fades to grey around it.
There’s a wedding that proves this better than most.
It started in Dodgers shirts at the Park Hyatt, the two of them getting ready. Then a traditional Japanese house. A koto playing as they made their promises. A blessing at a Shinjuku shrine. And before the reception, the bride changed into her mother’s wedding dress and carried it through a Shinjuku crossing, the same dress a generation later, moving through one of the busiest places on earth.
It happened on one of the hottest May days this country has ever recorded.
The days that stay with us were always the ones we let move us.
And the people we marry are the ones we chose to feel everything beside.

Sometimes the best part of a journey is watching certainty disappear beneath the wing.
Home isn’t an address. It isn’t a country. It isn’t somewhere you eventually return to.
It’s the person who makes every unfamiliar place feel familiar.
We thought about that while photographing this celebration at Little Palm Island.
Surrounded by ocean, arriving by boat, watching two people begin another chapter together in a place far from everyday life, it became clear that the destination was never the story.
The story was that wherever these two go next, they’ll never really be travelling alone.
And that’s what marriage is. Not finding the perfect place. Finding the person who makes the whole world feel like home.

Three flights down. Two to go.
Tonight: smørrebrød, a cold Carlsberg, and the quiet privilege of being somewhere that isn’t home.
The best journeys don’t just change your location. They recalibrate your perspective.
People find that thought bleak. It isn't. It's close to the most freeing thing there is.
Because meaning was never going to come from the mountain. It has all the permanence and none of the point. It can't choose anything. It can't love anyone. It just endures, beautifully, indifferently, for as long as the earth allows.
The one thing it can't do is the one thing you can.
There's an elopement we think about here. Two people, no guests, nothing but the wind and that enormous shape behind them. From the mountain's side of things, there were a few spectacular intimate minutes in a long stretch of deep time.
From theirs, it was everything. A whole life, decided out loud, in front of something that will never really know it was there for it.
That's the trade. We don't get permanence. The mountain keeps that.
We get to be the part of the universe that chooses. That looks at one person and says this one, on purpose, while something far older and far larger stands behind us, completely unable to.

It’s a reminder that every horizon is someone else’s home, and every departure is an invitation to see the world a little differently.
A reflection of the people who shaped you. The values you’ve inherited. The traditions you choose to carry forward, and the new ones you create together.
Watching these two incredible people surrounded by the people who know them best, it was impossible not to think about that. Every embrace carried history. Every smile belonged to someone who had helped write a chapter of their story long before this one.
Perhaps that’s why weddings matter so much. Not because they’re the start of a relationship. They’re the moment you recognise that your story has always been bigger than the two of you.
A wedding lasts a weekend. The feeling of standing in a room full of people who love you out loud tends to outlast it by decades.

The women who helped shape our lives.
The ones who believed in us before things were certain. The ones who gave advice when we needed it, or a push when we were doubting ourselves. The ones who showed us what strength looks like in the real world. The steady kind.
International Women’s Day is a moment to celebrate that.
We’re in Australia today, so it’s already IWD here. But our world spans continents and time zones, which means the celebration of the women in our lives always lasts a little longer. Here we are kicking it off...
Over the years at 37 Frames we’ve been incredibly lucky to work alongside so many extraordinary women. Our team. Our couples. Our creative partners. Friends across the wedding production and photography world who show up with talent, generosity and big hearts.
This little business of ours has always been built on that kind of energy. Women supporting women. Sharing knowledge. Opening doors. Cheering each other on when things go well, and standing beside each other when they don’t.
It’s something we never take for granted.
We’re proud to be a female-led business and even more grateful for the incredible women who are part of our story every single day.
So today we’re raising a glass to all of you.
The builders. The dreamers. The artists. The business owners. The quiet forces who keep the world moving forward.
We see you. We appreciate you. And we’re lucky to be walking this path together.
Happy International Women’s Day 🤍
Strength isn’t just about the climb. It’s about lifting others as you rise.
