Blaine was suspended in a 3x7ft transparent plexiglass box above the River Thames for 44 days, surviving on nothing but 4.5 litres of water a day. Within the first 10 days, the British public began to torment him with endless noise, food, golf balls and doing just about anything they could to keep him awake. He battled the public and hallucinations from starvation to show what the human body and mind can be capable of.

The Prada Sport line was launched in the late 90s with the intent of producing athleisure garments with materials and shapes that assimilated the features of ‘technical mountain clothes’. The signature Prada red tag later cemented itself in streetwear culture throughout the 2000s. Only the first few seasons of the Prada Sport line were ever featured on the runway, showcasing a beautiful range of highly technical pieces that clearly separated Prada Sport from the athletic diffusion lines of competitors. The earlier seasons are a favourite of many Prada collectors and design enthusiasts as it displays the perfect blend between technical and sophisticated design that was achieved by Prada in this era.
These motorcycle goggles were one of the most prominent accessories to appear on the SS/2003 runway, featuring foam-padded lenses with a nose flexor system and adjustable branded strap.
Taking it back to April 1st 2014 when Oakley teased the launch of a new uni-vision sunglass as an April Fool’s joke, complete with a pre-order link on the website. We spotted a prototype cast of the 1 Eye-Con hiding away at the HQ on our visit there last year.
Oakley’s statement: “Introducing the revolutionary 1 Eye-Con. Finally consumers with uni-vision have an eyewear designed specifically for them. With polarized lenses to cut out glare, this limited edition eyewear takes its design cues from the Oakley headquarters and input from Oakley athletes – Cyclops, Mike Wazowski, and Turanga Leela.”
One of the greatest pieces we have ever had in the archive.
Filming for the first X-Men movie began in 1999, right when Oakley was cementing its position as a leader of innovation in the eyewear market, so it is no surprise that they were approached to design the eyewear worn by James Marsden’s character ‘Scott Summers/Cyclops’. They provided a pair of custom X-Metal Juliet sunglasses with added shields on the sides and ruby iridium lenses, representing the ‘ruby quartz’ cyclops required on his eyewear, to protect the environment from the optic blast emitted from his eyes. While they were on the job, legendary designer Hans Moritz also began working on designs for a visor, leading to the production of this early prototype which was moulded to James Marsden’s face and used for early costume testing and screen tests. There were a few different prototypes made with some varying modifications as different scenes had different requirements. The final version used in the final cut of the movie features no Oakley branding but instead a rotating disc to control the blast. A 3-D scan of the visor was showcased on the website at the time and some of the prototypes were also displayed in Oakley stores when the movie was released in the cinema.
The iconic black suit worn by Jason Statham in The Transporter (2002) was a custom-tailored Giorgio Armani ensemble, designed to combine luxury style with action-ready functionality. Valued at around $4,000 for the full set (including suit, shirt, and tie) it featured subtle modifications like stretch fabric and space for stunt padding to allow flexibility during fight scenes, all while maintaining a sharp, professional look. This blend of elegance and practicality helped define Frank Martin’s polished yet deadly persona.

The ‘New Goblin’ mask was designed to be a deliberate departure from Norman Osborn’s iconic full goblin helmet. Instead of a monstrous face, it’s a partial tactical mask with Oakley lenses, finished in kevlar-style paintwork and built from lightweight rubber for stunt work. The design feels grounded and utilitarian, resembling extreme-sports or military gear. This reflects Harry’s situation: he’s not a long-term supervillain but a grieving, angry young man repurposing Oscorp technology with the sole purpose of hunting down Spider-man, rather than fully embracing the Goblin persona.
Several variations of the mask were made for stunts and effects, some with mechanical elements however this exact one was worn during the first fight scene with Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) at the start of the film. The design, done by Frontline Designs, intentionally emphasizes realism and character psychology over spectacle, making it a subtle but meaningful part of Harry Osborn’s arc.

History:
By the mid-90s Oakley had established themselves as an industry leader of innovative eyewear but founder Jim Jannard believed it was time to develop what would be known as the ultimate sunglasses, setting Oakley aside from all competitors. This is the concept that birthed X-Metal, a special Titanium alloy that would become the foundation of Oakley’s most sought-after line of frames. Jim Jannard stated in an interview with O-Forum: “I was a big fan of titanium and no one had done Ti eyewear. I thought that combining Ti with sculpture would be a really great thing. There were no factories doing what we wanted so we bought a golf club casting company in Nevada and converted it to manufacturing Ti eyewear. We were told by many that what we wanted to do was impossible. The idea of casting long and narrow parts (like the ear stems) was next to impossible. We ignored the warnings”.
The X-Metal line was announced in 1996 and launched in 1997 with the iconic ‘Romeo’, which Oakley described as an “evolutionary application of a new metallurgical process and a breakthrough in structural physics”. They were the strongest sunglasses ever made, built to withstand the weight of a car without any damage. The Romeo was succeeded by the Mars and Juliet in the following years, experimenting with different lens shapes that proved to be just as popular, leading to the development of several other frames in the 2000s. The XX came later, blending the hammerstems of the Romeo with a larger Juliet lens. The Romeo is one of the most famous sunglasses of all time, being seen on celebrities all over the world, from sports personalities including Michael Jordan at the 1997 Championship ceremony and movie stars like Robin Williams. Oakley were also able to supply leading movie studios in this period, so you can spot Romeo’s on Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible 2 and Juliets on James Marsden as Cyclops in X-Men. The X-Metal line perfectly encapsulates what Oakley is all about and there are no sunglasses with as much history and a cult following behind them.
