What each agency actually does
What is Veritone One
Veritone One is an audio specialist. Founded in 2014 by Patrick Lennon and Zeus Peleuses in Costa Mesa, it built a name in performance-based podcast and audio advertising, running host-read placements, radio, streaming audio and creator video for some of the biggest consumer brands. It came up as part of Veritone, leaning on AI tooling for matching and attribution. It raised $83 million along the way. If your media plan lives in ears rather than feeds, this is the kind of shop that has done it at scale for a decade.
One thing changed the picture in October 2024: Veritone One merged with Oxford Road to form what the two describe as the world's largest podcast advertising agency, backed by Insignia Capital. Both kept operating while they integrate under a combined brand. Pricing was never public, the model is managed media buying quoted per engagement. So Veritone One is the audio answer, now sitting inside a bigger podcast group. It does not compete with MG Empower on social influencer campaigns, it competes for the audio half of your budget. For social discovery you run yourself, the software route is different again.
What Veritone One does well
- Deep podcast and audio advertising track record
- Performance and attribution focus
- Host-read placements at real scale
- AI tooling inherited from Veritone
Where it falls short
- Audio first, not a social influencer agency
- No public pricing, quoted per deal
- Now folded into a larger Oxford Road group
- Enterprise audio budgets, not small brands
What is MG Empower
MG Empower works the other channel. Founded in London in 2017 by Maira Genovese, a marketer who came up through American Express, YSL and Burberry, it started as an influencer agency and grew into an integrated one. Today it runs influencer, social, experience, strategy and creative work across multiple continents, leaning on a proprietary influencer CRM it puts at more than a million creators. Its campaigns have reached past a billion people across dozens of territories. The client list runs to TikTok, Ford, Porsche, Bumble, Snapchat and Deliveroo.
On ownership, MG Empower was acquired by Amyris in 2021. Amyris later entered Chapter 11, though MG Empower has kept its site and service offering active into 2026. Pricing is not published, with third-party listings suggesting project minimums near $10,000. So MG Empower is the social and integrated answer where Veritone One is the audio one. A brand weighing the two is usually choosing a channel rather than two versions of the same thing. For brands that want to run social discovery in-house instead, Flinque is the third path.
What MG Empower does well
- Global social influencer reach
- Integrated offering beyond influencer alone
- Proprietary CRM of 1M+ creators
- Recognisable enterprise client roster
Where it falls short
- No public pricing, quoted per project
- Parent company Amyris hit Chapter 11
- Built for larger campaign budgets
- Managed service, no self-serve search
Head to head
The cleanest way to split Veritone One and MG Empower is by channel. Veritone One buys audio: podcasts, radio, streaming and host-read ads, measured on performance. MG Empower builds social: influencer campaigns plus integrated creative and strategy, reaching audiences across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. A brand rarely picks between them so much as decides which channel it is funding this quarter.
Both have moved corporately too. Veritone One merged into Oxford Road in 2024. MG Empower has sat under Amyris since 2021. Neither is the self-serve middle ground. Flinque is: 10M verified creators across four platforms with a fake-follower score on each, at one published price, where the brand does the searching.
